I've been having a problem going on with my computer, it has slowly been getting worse. My CPU is running at 100% to do simple things like changing a web page. Running video was getting to the point where it would skip so bad I couldn't watch it. I sent it to an IT guy to get 'cleaned' and still couldn't watch video, and the CPU is still running at 100% when it shouldn't. I've done searching trying to find out of the possible causes but I'm not IT enough to understand...lol. If there are any ideas, please help. The IT guy did a stress test, apparently, on the CPU and it passed....don't know how if simply changing webpages makes it go up to 100%. When I brought it home and found the the CPU having issues, he tried to blame a couple things, first, because I'm still running XP and can't get up to date security updates for that anymore. When I told him that one of the things I read that could cause the CPU to run like this had something to do with something screwing up with Internet Explorer, he suggested I download some other browsers. I downloaded Chrome and firefox, I can now watch video without it skipping, but the CPU is still doing it at 100%
Then he tried to blame it on the fact that apparently I'm running AMD instead of Intel. I can't comment on that, but it seems like he's trying to blame other things instead of fixing the problem. The computer is....I think at the most 4 years old, having other computers much older, running the same XP setup and barely even tip the CPU at 10% while downloading programs, makes me think that he's making excuses but I don't know.
