Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

did some thinking about this - what we'll have to do next to sort out the root of the problem is this:

I will run a new network with the client on my XP box - 5 user limit, but good enough for testing. Then I will host from my XP box. That will show us if the Win7 machine is causing this or if it is on your end.

Should it work fine, I will go and temporarily fire up the same 5 user test network on the Win 7 server box, but in peer-to-peer configuration. That will show if the Hamachi network topology has any impact on the problem.

Should it work for you when hosting on XP but never on Win7, I will have to do some more research on why that may be happening (LAN differences between win7 and XP).

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

Just upgraded the firmware for my linksys router, I'll see if that helps.

Getting a new modem from timewarner cable - that may help. Grasping at straws.

Maybe I need to update to WIN7?

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

I have a Lynksys router. Works for me.
And Win7.
I should try it on my XP machine.

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

get a laptop or something else that can run GRAW. Doesn't need fancy graphics to host a LAN game. plug that into your local network and see if you can see a server running on your real LAN. Just trying to narrow down the source of the problem.

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

was looking for some ideas online - found this for Windows 7 users, which won't help cappy, but it shows what a Win7 user may have to address. Some things from this guide translate to XP as well, I think

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

Not sure if Hamachi is already "prioritized" in your network connections, but check anyway (XP)

Step 2| Prioritizing Hamachi Network Adapter

-For XP/2000
Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections and on the menu click ‘Advanced’ then ‘Advanced Settings’ and put Hamachi at the top of the list.
Restart Your Computer.

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

in detail, cappy

open "network connections" from control panel - look in the menu on top for advanced - in there open "advanced settings" and you are in the right place. I didn't even ave Hamachi on top of my priority list here either, so I changed it in there using the green up and down arrows next to all available connections. Moved hamachi above the local network, everything else below these two,

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

Removed McAffee and disabled Windows firewall and the firewalls in my router and the cable modem. Still no luck.

I also moved Logme Hamachi up in the adapter settings to the top. Still no luck!

Maybe I need to setup some port forewarding.

I think it might be XP.

Will try connecting a laptop to the LAN and see if I can host a game locally at the w/e.

Else I think it maybe an XP/Win7 thing. I could put in an addtional drive I have and dual boot to Win7. Will have to buy win7 32b copy....$100 somthing bucks....

Re: LogMeIn Hamachi

it has to be something other than "XP" by itself - half the players are using XP and you are the only one having these issues.

it can't be your network adapter - we can chat and do other things through hamachi. However, not being able to ping your box from mine is a strange thing. There was a firewall in place.

We should maybe try "safe boot with networking" and see if you can then ping through the hamachi interface, eliminating most other things you have installed.

If you can set up a clean Win7, then that may be the quickest way forward.
