Re: bp weapons pack v5.0

Brettzie's instructions for installing and launching the game have never worked for me either. Guess i'm old and dumb also but i installed all the folders just like the older mods but this time i used the batch file to launch the game and it works for me. I had to have the .bat file in the main graw folder in order for the game to start, wouldn't work from the desktop. Good luck shootist

Re: bp weapons pack v5.0

Half the problem is the fact that you download a zip file which contains another zip file which contains the files you need in the structure you need them.

Is it really that hard? There's even a picture? I guess if you don't have winZip, something similar, or much experience unzipping files it could be.

The idea is you just EXTRACT(not place) the files into your Graw dir, double click the .bat file and go. I guess I just assumed people know that placing a zip file anywhere is meaningless. You always have to extract zip files, it's kind of computer 101. Not sure what I wrote in the readme, I'm guessing place now.

What it does when you extract is put 2 files in the main dir, a context xml and a batch file, and the rest in local/bp_weapons_pack_v5.0. When you extract files, you have to make sure is has "use folders" turned on(or whatever your archive program calls it) to maintain the directory structure of the mod.

You can right mouse drag the .bat file to your desktop and select "create shortcut," but if you just copy it to your desktop it won't work. The shortcut points to the right place.

The reason I did it this way is for people who want to have different mods installed and not have them get all jumbled up in the local/english folder.

Manually placing them works fine if you know what you are doing. If you edit your own context.xml you don't need to use the .bat file. Or if you renamed bp_weapons_pack_v5.0 to english you don't need to edit the context.xml or use the .bat file.

Sorry it causes headaches for some. I tired to make it simple.

Re: bp weapons pack v5.0

manually placing the files into the local folder and especially REMOVING it when you go back to no mod play is the only way this works. If you have anything in the /local dir that doesn't belong there the server will not let you connect as long as anti-cheat is enabled.

So, the extra xml file with the bat file are the time savers (saves you swapping the context.xml), but you still have to move the mod folder in and out of the local dir for the way we play on our server. One could add that move to the batch file, but I'm too damn lazy to change my ways, so all I did is rename the context.xml of the mod to match what the game is looking for, and I'm swapping files like I showed in the thread about uhe 4.0 mod. Takes 10 seconds twice a week.

On the server I have to do that anyway, because it requires quite a bit more to be changed to go from no mod to mod and back.

If you can't get it to work, then stop trying. It really isn't that hard.

Not sure why it does that, but even when I try the map on my own system lone wolf it crashes. However, by deleting the folder:

\local\bp_weapons_pack_v5.0\units\beings

It fixes the problem, at least on a local machine.

The really funny thing is that I'm not using those xmls for anything, they are identical to the originals. I just did an ExamDiff on the one file it looked like I might have modified and it gave me a warning "files are identical, exam anyway?" The other one in there, bp_gear.xml is useless also. I began this version of the mod by trying to use "gear" like you can in Graw2, but theres no class for it, so it doesn't work.

In the end, I just forgot to delete the folder. I'm going to repackage and update the download links, but all you really have to do to play that map(and I assume others with the problem) is delete that folder from the mod.

Sorry for the problem, hopefully it fixes any issues.
